Google AI Overviews typically don’t present up for branded or navigational queries. So in case you are looking for a model or firm, typically, Google has not proven an AI Overview.
And truthfully, that also appears to be the case.
However the different day, Victor Pan from Hubspot, observed that Google was displaying an AI Overview for a search on [hubspot] – a branded or navigational question. He posted about it on X and it received a variety of consideration. And he’s appropriate, Google, for some cause, is displaying an AI Overview on this case.
Here’s a screenshot:
So I watched this and I examined dozens of various manufacturers, together with a few dozen manufacturers in the identical or related area of Hubspot and Google isn’t displaying AI Overviews for different manufacturers. I attempted Salesforce, Zendesk, Monday.com, Pipedrive, Zoho, Semrush and so many others. Nothing – not but – no less than.
Usually, you do not need to see AI Overviews for branded queries. You do not know what it would say and if that can result in fewer clicks to your model as a result of it would point out rivals…
That being mentioned, I feel this Hubspot instance is an outlier, possibly even a bug.
I imply, if it isn’t a bug, then certain, panic as a result of:
TLDR; AI Overviews will possible harm branded CTR, however not kill it totally.
CTR curves are flattening
Web page 1 rating domination is getting tougher
SEOs want a deeper understanding of branded vs unbranded site visitors greater than ever
